Military Chic

Yes, military jackets are appropriate to be wearing in 2012- they're not just for soldiers. Designers such as Elizabeth and James and Marc Jacobs have incorporated a military look in their fall lines, so you know it’s in style!

Key pieces that will bring out the military side in you include military-inspired jackets with strong shoulders and brass buttons. Some of the most popular colors found in military style clothes are this season’s hottest shades: navy blue and hunter green. This way, you can rock two trends!
If the feel of military clothing seems to be too masculine, pair a military-inspired jacket with a feminine dress or skirt- pale hues are the way to go with these added pieces. This outfit can be worn with heels and a fun bag, which will show off your girly side, while simultaneously proving how fashion-forward you really are!
Not looking for too much of a feminine feel? Adding an edgy side to a military-inspired outfit can be done by incorporating leather pants, oversized sunglasses and short boots with a military coat.
As the temperature begins to cool off, forget throwing on a basic pea coat- add excitement to your outfit with a stylish military jacket.

Loving Leather

Faux leather has made its debut into the fashion world- it's no longer just for motorcyclists. Designers like Rachel Zoe and Rebecca Taylor introduces this new look at New York Fashion Week a while back, and made it clear that this trend isn't temporary- you can wear it all the way through the spring. So it's definitely worth investing in!

This look is perfect for the winter because it looks best in dark colors, typically black, green and maroon. Skirts, tops (be selective in styles...), jackets and side bags are the best items to wear in leather.

Leather jackets are probably the first piece that come to mind when you think of leather. Pair it with jeans and ankle boots (biker boots will really bring out the inner rebel in you!) for an edgier look, or wear it with a dress.

If you wear the look right, you can even make room for it in the work-attire, pair a feminine leather skirt with a blouse or a form-fitting blazer. Keep the leather to a minimum though. You don't want to show off too much an edgy look for work- save it for a night out or on the weekends.

So whether your style is classy, edgy, or somewhere in between, there is a perfect leather item that will fit your wardrobe. This trend is bound to spice up any outfit!
